Sweatshop

Emelise created the role of Tillie, the shop's tough floorlady, in both the Workshop and Off-Broadway productions of Sweatshop by Louis La Russo II at the American Theatre of Actors in New York City. Emelise based her characterization on her memories of her mother, who worked as a sewing machine operator and floorlady at a garment factory in the Bronx in the 50's.
